Diamond rings come in all different shapes and sizes but some are looking to be more popular than others in 2018. Traditional shapes and styles will always be classics that are here to stay, but if you are looking for something a little different and more in keeping with someone's personal style, you might want to opt for something on trend this year. Take a look below at the styles that we think will dominate the engagement ring market this year...

The Meghan Markle Effect
As soon as Meghan Markle's ring became public knowledge, trilogy ring sales increased almost immediately. The three stone style is said to be the top trend for engagement rings in 2018 which is no surprise at all. Prince Harry made the ring extra special by using two diamonds taken from Princess Diana's jewellery collection. With trilogy rings representing the past, the present and the future with your loved one, they are beautiful rings that celebrate your relationship. You can shop trilogy rings here
As well as this, Ms. Markle's ring more than likely helped to increase yellow gold sales too. White gold has dominated the engagement ring market in more recent years, however, yellow gold is definitely making its comeback. Future brides are favouring more vintage styles and art deco designs which are perfectly complemented by yellow gold.

Personalisation
Future brides are now expected to transform their family heirlooms to create something personalised and individual. Again, because of Prince Harry's eye for detail when creating his engagement ring for Meghan Markle, and bringing something old and something new together, it makes the ring more special. It would not be surprising if couples now thought about combining old and new jewels to create their own bespoke piece.

Colour
Diamond engagement rings have always been the most traditional choice when looking to propose, however, a lot more coloured stones are being featured in rings now, usually complimented by diamonds. Blue sapphires are definitely leading the way when it comes to coloured stone rings and are usually in the style of a trilogy ring or a cluster ring. One royal example is Jack Brooksbank's ring choice for Princess Eugenie. He chose a pink padparadscha sapphire, surrounded by 10 brilliant cut diamonds and two pear cut diamonds, to make it slightly different to a standard cluster ring. Choosing a coloured stone, it makes the ring more personal to the wearer.

Rose Gold
Although rose gold jewellery has been very popular in the last few years, its not as new as you think. It first appeared in the 1800s in Russia and then in the Victorian era it spread to the rest of the world. From then on its popularity has continued to fluctuate. In 2018, rose gold continues to dominate the fashion jewellery market with no signs of stopping. Bridal jewellery is still set to feature rose gold pieces but it is more than likely never going to outsell yellow or white gold. Rose gold rings are a stand out option for anyone who wants something on trend.

Ring Shape
Whilst princess cut rings continue to decline, the shapes that are on the rise are oval and pear cuts. Oval shapes especially have continued to grow in numbers in 2018 with their elegant and timeless style. Even celebrities like Blake Lively and Serena Williams have been spotted showing their rings off. Pear shaped rings are a gorgeous modern shape that is ideal for a trend loving bride who wants to stand out yet still have something that goes with her everyday style.
