It’s only a matter of time until fashionistas from across the land flock to Somerset House for one of the biggest fashion events of the year. We may still be clinging onto the summer of 2014, but we’ll already be thinking ahead to Spring/Summer 2015 at London Fashion Week.

Beginning on the 12th of September, this historical event celebrates only the most creative and talented designers of our generation. Every runway and every showroom fills you with inspiration and often a touch of envy. Nothing quite beats the hustle and bustle of press and bloggers making their way through catwalk changeovers and sitting amongst the pinnacle of fashion royalty; Anna Wintour, Kate Moss and Natalie Massenet.

What stands out most for us is the annual Rock Vault event, which features 10 British designers all showcasing their wondrous collections. This year’s list includes:

• Alice Cicolini
• Hannah Martin
• Imogen Belfield
• Jacqueline Cullen
• Jo Hayes Ward
• Ornella Iannuzzi
• Tomasz Donocik
• Yunus & Eliza
• Beth Gilmour
• Shimell and Madden

Stepping into this whimsical showroom makes you feel as if you’ve stumbled upon Aladdin’s cave. Delicate designs feature an array of materials ranging from traditional gold to rare textured rock, all applied in innovative ways. Contemporary collections stand alongside vintage jewellery-inspired pieces, creating a juxtaposition between each celebrated designer.

Rock Vault has been curated by Stephen Webster and developed by the British Fashion Council to nurture the community of fine jewellery designers in London. The showroom gives each of them the chance to display their installations on a global scale.

London Fashion Week is highly regarded on an international scale. Whilst these designs may sit between the four walls of a showroom in London, press and bloggers from across the world descend upon LFW every year, catapulting lesser known designers into the spotlight.

It goes without saying that we’re delighted to see younger jewellery designers making a name for themselves via such a prestigious platform. However, it is not just the Rock Vault that intrigues us. Of course, the runways give us a glimpse of what we’ll be wearing for S/S15 and what styles we’ll need to accessorise.

If we’re faced with florals and elegant lace, it may be more appropriate to source some graceful vintage jewellery to match. On the other hand, the runways showcase an abundance of bright geometric prints, which you could pair with more contemporary designs, or more simple pieces such as white gold bangles or chains.

Our capital stands proud amongst the world’s fashion cities such as Milan, Paris and New York. Drawing from the multicultural influence of London’s outer districts, our featured designers find influence from an eclectic mix of cultures. Although distinctly British in its setup, London Fashion Week goes beyond the boundaries of the city to capture the spirit of the UK and its rich history.

Coveted outfits, innovative designs and opulent jewellery are the epitome of an industry which celebrates true luxury. Exclusive in its invite-only runways and limited availability creations, London Fashion Week never fails to give us a tingle of excitement.

Keep an eye on William May’s Facebook page in the coming weeks, as we’re planning to launch a competition to win two tickets to the prestigious London Fashion Weekend event, which follows London Fashion Week.
